Sovev Emek or “Round the Valley” Ultramarathon” was founded by members of Kibbutz Hazorea, located in the Jezreel Valley in North Israel, as a means to promote competitive trail racing, appreciation of nature and environmental conservation. Our mission is to make this event an annual tradition.
Most of the team who founded and who manage the event engage regularly themselves in outdoor sports – mainly trail running and cycling. The event takes many months of preparation and on the day of the race, about 250 volunteers, mostly from Kibbutz Hazorea will serve and assist the participating athletes at the staging areas, on the course and at the many refreshment stations along the course.
The course will take you on unpaved paths and trails through forests and wadis, accross valleys, up hills and along an ancient Roman road, all part of the Megiddo Council Biosphere that is situated in the Jezreel Valley and the Menashe hills.
“Sovev Emek Ultramarathon” is run by a non-profit association and places a high emphasis in the contribution to the local communities and in particular to Kibbutz Hazorea and in involving the members of the communities in outdoor sports in general and trail running in particular.
The event includes races of various distances so that participants of many different levels can find a race that suits them. We look forward to having you run with us!
